What is ULD？Full name: UnitLoadDevice.As the name suggests, it is equipment for loading goods。This is what we call a "pack."。So what is ULD for？Everyone would think that if the cargo is going to be loaded on the plane, it must be fixed。If it is not normal, it can move easily when the aircraft takes off and lands or when there is turbulence。During transportation, on the one hand, there is the possibility of damage to the goods, and on the other hand, there is the risk of damage inside the cargo hold。Therefore, all cargo loaded on the aircraft must be fixed。With the ULD, we can load the cargo inside the ULD before the ULD is on the aircraft, and then load the ULD into the aircraft。Secure the ULD to the ground of the aircraft and secure the ULD。Therefore, having an ULD is not afraid of the cargo flying around on the plane。
All ULDs have naming conventions。Usually three English letters + a string of numbers + two characters。PMC12345LH。This is a PMC board produced by Lufthansa, the number is 12345。

The initial letter indicates the ULD type。For example, in the example just given, the first English letter is P, which means that this is a pallet, it is a pallet (only the bottom plate, open on all sides).。Similar to PAJ,PLA,PLF, etc。Some use A to represent a box (sealed on all four sides), which we usually call a container。Ulds are similar: AKE,AKH,AMF, and so on。M and A are the most common, but there are also some starting with other letters, such as RKN, and R stands for Refrigerate, in other words, the ULD is with temperature control (including active temperature control and passive temperature control, anyone interested, we can discuss this topic later).。Then there's HMJ, where H stands for Horse, and this ULD is specifically used to transport horses。
The other letter indicates the ULD floor area。For example, M stands for 244x318cm, and if it is PMC, this is a 96-inch plate that we often say。For example, A stands for 223x318cm, if it is PAJ, this is what we often say 88 inch board。Three letters, representing the ULD plate type, that is, the application contour。For example, C in the PMC, you can play C2, Q7 board。
